Hello there, my name is Catharina, I am a 27 year-old German and moving to the Netherlands in the summer. I am looking for a cosy, central apartment for myself. From September, I will be attending Leiden University and pursuing a master’s degree in European and International Human Rights Law. Since graduating from law school in Germany, I have been working in development cooperation, advising the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in fighting corruption as one of the biggest hindrances to effective fundamental rights protection globally. After my master’s, I hope to make the switch into strategic human rights litigation and can imagine staying in The Hague to do so. In my spare time, I like to read anything I can get my hands on. I have a big “Grüner Daumen” as we say in German (“green thumb”, which means to have a knack for plants). Since I love to spend time outside, I cannot wait to explore around the city by bike. From past apartment-hunting experiences, I know that lawyers (or law students) are not the preferred tenants, but I hope you will give me a shot regardless. Ideally, I would move in in mid-August (as orientation at uni starts on the 19th), but I am open to starting the lease sooner than that. My parents will be happy to co-sign, should you prefer it. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best, Catharina
